Final Patriots Day Trailer Promises Heartbreak And Human Spirit

There's a lot to be said about 2016, including the fact that it brings not one, but two new Peter Berg movies, all within the last three months. While his first contribution, Deepwater Horizon, unfortunately (and rather undeservedly) didn't make a huge impact, his next film, Patriots Day, promises something a little more rewarding. At least, if all the quotes thrown inside this new, final trailer are any indication of the final product.

Just like Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon, Patriots Day stars Mark Wahlberg and will dramatize a real-life tragedy, this time recreating the Boston Marathon bombing that occurred on April 15th, 2013, which resulted in the death of three citizens and an estimated 264 injured civilians. Berg’s acclaimed film focuses not only on the attack itself, but the four day manhunt that ensued afterwards. It’ll also follow how the people of Boston came together throughout this horrific incident.

In addition to Wahlberg, Patriots Day features an impressive ensemble that includes John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Wolff, Melissa Benoist, Jimmy O. Yang, Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Beach, Themo Melikidze, James Colby, Christopher O’Shea and more.

The dust has barely settled from the duo’s true-life thriller Deepwater Horizon, but the prolific pair are on an exciting streak and Patriots Day will see them jostling for a place in this season’s awards race when the Boston bombing drama opens in limited theatres across New York, Los Angeles and Boston on December 21. Look for the drama to expand nationwide on January 13, 2017.
