A criminally short final trailer for The Hunger Games has surfaced online today and despite using some recycled footage, it’s pretty damn exciting. Like the last two previews, the trailer stays away from the games themselves and instead chooses to focus more on Katniss’ preparation and lead up to the big event.
Though I’d like to see some footage featuring some carnage, it’s probably a smart move on Lionsgate’s part to hold back. By not revealing too much, audiences are probably more intrigued than ever to see what one of 2012’s biggest blockbusters holds in store for us.
As I said above, there is a handful of recycled footage here but there’s enough new stuff to make it worth the watch. Especially noteworthy is a nice ‘extended’ look at Stanley Tucci‘s character, Caesar Flickerman, as well as a few new shots of the Capitol.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.
The Hunger Games will star Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. It will be released on March 23rd, 2012.
In a dystopian future America is now Panem, a nation made up of twelve impoverished districts, all ruled by a militant capitol where technology and excess are a way of life. Every year the capitol holds a televised battle royal, where one male and female teenager from the twelve districts must battle to the death for the pleasure of capitol. When a young hunter from District 12 named Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) sacrifices herself to save her little sister from the games, she embarks on a brave fight for survival that could change a nation.
