Coming out of Comic-Con is the final trailer for what will undoubtedly be one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Despite the fact that there is no talking involved here, it’s incredibly effective and very exciting.

WETA’s impeccable CGI continues to impress and the film is shaping up really well. Many have claimed that they have no interest in this one and admittedly, there hasn’t been a whole lot of buzz for it just yet. Hopefully that will all change though because I really do think that this will be one of summer’s top films.

Not only are the effects impressive but the film looks pretty damn scary. The apes look incredibly realistic and seeing them taking over our world is truly frightening. I’m really not sure how someone couldn’t be excited for this film. Even if they aren’t familiar with the original series, this still looks like an epic blockbuster that will offer an enjoyable thrill ride.

Set in a contemporary San Francisco, Rise of the Planet of the Apes acts as a prequel to the Planet of the Apes series. We watch how the apes gain their intelligence, start a revolution and eventually, take over our world.

Being a fan of the original series, a prequel is obviously of great interest to me and although I was skeptical at first, once I saw footage from the film, I knew we would have nothing to worry about.

If you’re still on the fence about this one, check out the final trailer below and decide if you’ll be heading out to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

James Franco stars, along with Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, and Tom Felton. The film will hit theatres on August 5th.
