Finally! A Real Trailer For The Muppets

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all the parody teaser trailers we've seen for The Muppets so far. The rom-com one was clever and I especially enjoyed the recent Green Lantern one. For the most part, they were well done but it was getting to be a bit much. I mean, how many films were they planning on ripping off? I've been waiting to see a real trailer for a while now and today we finally have one.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed all the parody teaser trailers we’ve seen for The Muppets so far. The rom-com one was clever and I especially enjoyed the recent Green Lantern one. For the most part, they were well done but it was getting to be a bit much. I mean, how many films were they planning on ripping off? I’ve been waiting to see a real trailer for a while now and today we finally have one.

Admittedly, the film does look funny. The Muppet’s usual irreverent/quirky humor seems to be on full display here and plot doesn’t really look like it’s going to count for much. But then again, who goes to see The Muppets for plot? The film is still keeping the celebrity cameos under wraps (which is nice) and hopefully the movie will expose a whole new generation to the Muppets. I’ve personally never been a huge Muppets fan but I’ve also never really seen many of their movies. I am looking forward to this one though.

Coming to us from director James Bobin, the film stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper with celebrity cameos coming from Ed Helms, Mila Kunis, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Rashida Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Jack Black, and Zach Galifianakis.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
