Ever since its pulse-pounding debut on Netflix back in 2016, The Duffer Brothers’ fantasy spectacle Stranger Things has become a sure-fire hit for the platform and unequivocally considered to be one of the brightest television shows in the modern day. And while numerous stars have gained worldwide fame for their performances in the show, there’s no denying that actor Finn Wolfhard has undeniably stood out. From an upcoming spot alongside Julianne Moore to touring the world often with his band, the Canadian actor appeared to have done it all — until a horror opportunity suddenly opened up.

According to Variety, Wolfhard is set to make his directorial debut in Hell of a Summer — a thought-provoking new horror slasher that features some major starpower. For some background, Wolfhard collaborated with his Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-star Billy Bryk on the project — both of whom are also set to star in the upcoming extravaganza. Considering the fifth and final season of Stranger Things is eyeing a 2024 release, then it’s now safe to say that Wolfhard is currently in a brilliant and extensive stretch of his career. As of now, however, there’s been no official word on when Stranger Things 5 will begin filming. But in the downtime, Wolfhard has fleshed out his involvement in the horror genre, with the project having been previously announced back in July of last year.
