First Look At Jimmy Smits As Bail Organa In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

It's been said that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story might end where A New Hope began, and while it will be a lot of fun seeing how this movie sets the stage for the original trilogy, links to the prequels are inevitable (whether you like them or not). It’s been said that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story might end where A New Hope began, and while it’ll be a lot of fun seeing how this movie sets the stage for the original trilogy, links to the prequels are inevitable (whether you like them or not). That’s where certain cameos come in, hence why Jimmy Smits will reprise the role of Bail Organa.

Earlier today, we got our first look at the actor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and it’s definitely pretty interesting. Remember, this movie takes place nineteen years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and while he’s clearly war weary, Obi Wan Kenobi’s old friend (and Princess Leia’s adoptive father) is still very much a leader.

However, things have clearly changed for the Alderaan native, as Smits had the following to say about how he factors into Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

“[His garb] isn’t as stately as in the other episodes; he isn’t as high up the political food chain.”

It doesn’t sound like we should expect to see him play a massive role in the movie in that case, but his appearance alone guarantees that fans will be rewarded with some connective tissues between the prequels and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The question many people will be wondering though is whether or not we’ll get to see a younger version of Leia. It doesn’t seem likely at this stage, unfortunately, but you never know….
