It’s been one of the most prominent questions to linger over Jon Watts’ 2017 reboot in recent weeks – just who is playing The Shocker in Spider-Man: Homecoming?
A leaked casting docket that surfaced online appeared to unveil the true identity of the actor behind Herman Schultz, though it wasn’t until co-star Hannibal Buress inadvertently verified said casting sheet a few days later that fans really began to stand up and take notice.
For all intents and purposes – and barring an abrupt bait-and-switch by Marvel Studios – it is Bokeem Woodbine that will assume the part of the street-level thug come 2017. An engineering mastermind by trade, Herman Schultz gained a reputation as The Shocker by donning the grubby yellow body stocking that completely masks his face and body. Now, thanks to Marvel News, it seems we have the first glimpse of those duds in action.
It’s impossible to deduce whether this really is Woodbine or not – The Shocker’s costume literally covers his entire body – but that surely won’t quell speculation. Have a gander at this new wave of set photos, below.

Either way, Woodbine is part of Marvel’s all-star cast that currently features Tom Holland in the title role – who recently looked rather badass thanks to a badass, film noir-styled set pic – alongside Civil War‘s Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton as The Vulture, Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Abraham Attah, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Garcelle Beauvais, Tiffany Espensen, Angourie Rice, Zendaya and Jon Favreau in what will be his first MCU appearance since Iron Man 3.
Spider-Man: Homecoming scurries into theaters on July 7, 2017.
