‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ fans can’t get enough of Matthew Lillard as William Afton

Who's excited to see Matthew Lillard play this iconic horror villain?

After years of waiting, the official teaser for the film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s is here. The latest promo featured a glimpse of the main characters, but it seems the internet can’t get enough of the film’s antagonist.

Fans caught a short glimpse of Matthew Lillard‘s character, William Afton the initial teaser. While the character doesn’t say or do much in the teaser, there seems to be excitement for the character’s appearance. This makes sense considering that in the games, William Afton was just some purple pixel sprite or a guy trapped in a spring-locked bunny suit.

Lillard is mostly known for his role as Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo franchise and has played the character since 2002. Asides from the widly popular animated franchise, the actor is in a handful of shows in minor roles. His new role, William Afton, is the main antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise and is said to be behind the culprit behind all of the nefarious goings on around the haunted pizzeria. All in all, it’s great to finally see a human take on the iconic character.

Five Nights at Freddy’s will not only star Lillard. Joining him will be The Hunger GamesJosh Hutcherson, who will also have a main role in the film as Mike Schmidt, and You‘s Elizabeth Lail will play Vanessa. Three of the animatronics in the live-action take have also been named.

Five Nights at Freddy‘s will at long last arrive in theaters on Oct 27, 2023.
