Filming on Star Wars: Episode IX continues apace today, as UK tabloid The Sun has relayed a fresh batch of set photos to prove it.
Captured on location in the United Kingdom, down below you’ll see Finn and Poe – John Boyega and Oscar Isaac, respectively – exploring the British countryside in what is surely a mission on behalf of the Resistance. Chewbacca is also present, and can be seen surveying the terrain from a nearby hill alongside a pair of horses.
Based on the bright orange tape, those jet-black horses will be replaced for something more alien – more Star Wars-y – during post-production, and if this gallery has any relation to yesterday’s shots of the Millennium Falcon hiding in a forest, it appears Episode IX sees the Resistance journey across the galaxy in search of a new base, before settling on this Endor-like planet.
See for yourself:
You’ll also notice that Naomi Ackie’s unnamed character is seen milling around with the sea of extras, though it’s still unclear who she’ll be playing for the 2019 sequel.
If nothing else, it’s good to see Finn and Poe back together after spending much (if not all) of The Last Jedi on opposite sides of the galaxy – one stood firm in the face of Vice Admiral Holdo, while the other flew off on a secret mission to Canto Bight with Rose Tico. No prizes for guessing which is which…
There’s also no sign of the Falcon in today’s status report, though the fact that Episode VIII ended with all major players housed up inside Han Solo’s Corellian freighter leads us to believe that it’s actually just out of shot. It’s certainly on the same planet.
Whatever the case, Star Wars: Episode IX opens big on December 20th, 2019.
