Hydro-Man

Hydro-Man is not one of the most well-known Spider-Man villains, but if Jon Watts takes a page from the character's role in the 1994 Spider-Man animated series, he could be a great fit for this new John Hughes-esque take on the franchise. In the series, Morris "Morrie" Bench is a former boyfriend of Mary Jane Watson who was expelled from school and sent to join the Navy by his parents. While at sea, he was involved in an accident with a strange chemical, which changed his cellular structure and allowed him to control and transform into liquid at will. He then returns to New York to reclaim Mary Jane's love and goes up against Spider-Man. With a bit of creative finagling, the character could fit quite well into this new franchise, ramping up the teen drama and delivering the requisite big screen spectacle.
