Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof have been hard at work on a top secret sci-fi adventure known simply as 1952. Details about the film are scarce and up until now, there hasn’t been much to report on it. Today though, Variety is reporting that George Clooney is in talks to star. Exciting, eh?
The film is said to center on an ordinary man who makes contact with extraterrestrials (think Close Encounters of the Third Kind), yet that is only a rumor at this point and has in no way been confirmed. In fact, the film hasn’t even been officially greenlit yet, though Disney is hoping for it to be a high-profile tentpole.
On that note, if the mouse house manages to snag George Clooney, they’d be in pretty good shape. A Clooney/Bird/Lindelof production would certainly do well, that’s some top notch talent right there and together, those three would be able to create one hell of an exciting film. Whether it turns out to be about alien encounters or something totally unrelated, 1952 is shaping up to be a film that you should definitely keep a close eye on.
