Get Acquainted With The Villains Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Via New Featurette

A new featurette has arrived for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and this time around, the focus has shifted over to the sequel's cadre of villains.

So much of Marvel’s marketing blitz for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has placed a laser focus on James Gunn’s titular motley crew – and rightfully so, given the fact that they simply ooze personality and charm – that you’d be forgiven for not knowing the exact identity of the sequel’s villains.

But don’t fret; Marvel has today pumped out another featurette for the rip-roaring adventure that draws attention to Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha, head of the Sovereign, and Taserface – a character whose name wouldn’t look out of place in an Ian Fleming novel. The latter is best described as a Ravager and arch-nemesis to Michael Rooker’s Yondu, and you’ll get a better sense of their longstanding rivalry up above. Underneath all of that makeup is Chris Sullivan, star of The Knick and ongoing NBC drama This Is Us.

Circling back to Guardians 2, though, the Internet is abuzz with cautious optimism in anticipation of May 5th, particularly after the critical consensus declared James Gunn’s follow-up to be a visually stunning, yet emotionally poignant thrill ride of spectacular action scenes and heartfelt family moments – namely those shared between Star-Lord and Ego, and Gamora and Nebula, the warring step-daughters of Thanos.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently playing in a select handful of countries across the globe. Its domestic release date is penciled in for Friday, May 5th, at which point U.S. moviegoers will finally get the chance to take a deep dive into James Gunn’s sequel and its many post-credits sequences. They are, unsurprisingly, a combination of world-building and moments of fan service, but just remember that Star-Lord and the gang will be taking a back seat when Avengers: Infinity War storms into theaters on May 4th, 2018.
