Everyone’s favorite duo is teed up for another adventure on Apple TV Plus tomorrow, with Ana de Armas and Chris Evans set to star in Ghosted, the upcoming action rom-com by Dexter Fletcher.
In the film, the kind-hearted Cole (Evans) finds himself swept away on the most harrowing second date of his life when he learns that Sadie (de Armas), the woman he’s seeing, is a CIA agent tasked with halting a worldwide threat.
Be it a revolutionary murder mystery (Knives Out), or a so-so action-thriller (The Gray Man), Evans and de Armas always manage to bring an entertaining A-game whenever they find themselves sharing the screen, but in the case of Ghosted, Evans may be the weak link here through the unlikely burden of his perfect face.
In an interview with ComicBook, when Fletcher was asked about whether Evans was too handsome for the role of the adorably awkward Cole, the director – cheekily enough – didn’t seem too worried about the potential miscast at play here, pointing out that both actors boast a talent that far outweighs whatever damage their beauty would bring to the screen.
“No, that was not too much of a concern. I think it’s just part of the magic that he brings. With both of them, in actual fact. What’s also great though is they’re both such great actors, so their dazzling good looks can soon be surpassed by their convincing portrayal of the characters. So, not too bad.”
So there you have it, folks; according to Fletcher, being attractive is not, in fact, much of a barrier to entry when it comes to starring in a romantic action comedy. With that out of the way, we can move on to figuring out if sticking Keanu Reeves at the front of a John Wick film is a risky play or not.
Ghosted will release to Apple TV Plus on April 21.
