‘Ghosted’ director reveals Chris Evans and Ana de Armas’ action comedy is coming sooner than you think

The 'Knives Out' duo will be back in action before you know it.

Chris Evans and Ana de Armas make for quite the cinematic duo; the two actors have shared the screen in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out and in the Russo brothers’ The Gray Man, and while the latter project didn’t quite reach the heights that the former did, there’s no question that the presence of Captain America and Marilyn Monroe has the ability to elevate just about any film out there.

The pair will be teaming up yet again later this year, starring opposite each other in Ghosted, a caper that we know virtually nothing about, other than it being a romantic action comedy.

We’ll be finding out more sooner rather than later, according to director Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman), who revealed in an interview with Deadline that production has fully wrapped, and the only thing standing in the way between it and an April release on Apple TV Plus is a few finishing touches.

“Production is well-wrapped. I’m just putting the finishing touches to it now. It’ll be ready for April. I mean, I don’t know if I’m even allowed to say that but I’ve said it.”

The film also stars Adrien Brody, Mike Moh, Tim Blake Nelson, Amy Sedaris, and Tate Donovan with a script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who served as scribes for the Deadpool franchise. Evans and de Armas will also executive produce.

We almost got a very different power duo, with Scarlett Johansson having previously been pegged for the starring role opposite Evans, but she ultimately dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. With de Armas taking her place, though, it’s safe to say that no chemistry will be lost between its two leads, despite what X-factor an Avengers reunion would have brought to the table.

Ghosted will release to Apple TV Plus sometime in April.
