Capitalizing on the fever pitch hype coming out of Comic-Con, Empire has debuted the cover of its soon-to-be-released issue, which features a rather striking shot for Zack Snyder’s upcoming blockbuster Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Pitting the two titular titans against one another, the outlet promises an exclusive look behind next year’s anticipated showdown, including a detailed look at their respective alter-egos, too. Then again, judging by the show-stopping Comic Con trailer, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor appears to be pulling the strings behind the epic brawl, as he harnesses the legendary power of kryptonite to place a wedge between the Man of Steel and The Dark Knight.

Even from the cover spread alone we can get a sense of the distinct personas within Dawn of Justice. Superman, hated and adored in equal measure, is almost defiant in his stance, embracing the all-powerful aura that goes hand-in-hand with an alien that shots laser beams from his retinas. Batman, meanwhile, has all the signs of a man on a mission, determined in his quest to topple The Last Son of Krypton before he causes anymore damage.

It’s a Herculean tussle that will no doubt act as one of the film’s main centerpieces, but with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman alongside Jason Momoa’s debut as Aquaman, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is a multi-faceted affair. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Scoot McNairy round out the cast.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will kick off a defining year for both DC and Warner – what with Suicide Squad landing a few months afterwards – when Zack Snyder’s epic arrives in cinemas on March 25, 2016.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
