This latest bit of possible information comes once again via MonarchSciences.com, a website named after the mysterious organization that plays a central role in the budding MonsterVerse. The site has a habit of revealing little clues on what to expect from next year’s sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, giving users the ability to track down the various creatures involved in King of the Monsters and often rewarding them with information.

You can already find some pretty neat character profiles on Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah, but a few fans on Reddit have suggested that the pathway of the Big G himself may be hinting that he’ll be running into another famed giant a little sooner than expected. We are, of course, referring to King Kong, star of Kong: Skull Island and fellow inhabitant of this shared cinematic universe. While the lizard and the ape are scheduled to trade blows in 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong, some fans are speculating that Godzilla’s current trajectory is for the destination of Skull Island, implying that an early encounter between the two titans is on the cards.

Given that all we’ve got to go on is a marker on a map, this theory does seem like a bit of a stretch, especially seeing how the atomic-breathed Kaiju is going to have his hands pretty full in the upcoming movie dealing with several of his old friends. That being said, it would feel like a bit of a letdown if the beast’s tracked path on the Monarch website never really amounted to anything, so you can expect that some form of news will likely arise from this feature somewhere down the line.

Wherever his swim takes him, you can be sure that Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be stomping into cinemas on May 31st, 2019.
