Godzilla: King Of The Monsters TV Spot Teases The Destruction To Come

This new Godzilla: King of the Monsters TV spot is mostly made up of recycled footage but still provides a nice tease of the destruction to come.

Though we’re still waiting for another proper trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, we now have a short tease of the spectacle to come in a rather brief promo that puts the spotlight on Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.

Before that electrifying first trailer for the Big G’s next big screen outing premiered last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, you may remember that Legendary Pictures shared a quick snippet from a scene in which we saw Brown’s Madison Russell attempt to contact the secret government agency known as Monarch. This new TV spot starts off the same, using footage borrowed from previous trailers as we watch the young girl trying her best to make contact. Unfortunately, she’s unsuccessful, but she does hear a distressed voice which cries out “everything is burning,” as quick shots of the destruction to come flash across the screen.

It’s a tantalizing look at what’ll surely be one of 2019’s biggest releases, and though the marketing campaign has so far kept the monsters of the film obscured behind shadows and mist, don’t expect that to be the case once King of the Monsters actually arrives in theaters.

Though 2014’s Godzilla proved divisive in its surprisingly restrained approach to showing its beasts, director Michael Dougherty assured fans last year that he has no intention of being so subtle for the follow-up, promising that there’s “no holding back” once the monsters begin trading blows.

That’s certainly exciting to hear, but it’s also important to remember that the pic has a noteworthy human cast which includes the likes of Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and the aforementioned Brown, and since several of these actor will be returning for 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong, here’s hoping it won’t just be the monsters who make an impact when Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters on May 31st.
