One of more exciting films currently in production is definitely David Fincher’s Gone Girl. With a stellar cast including Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, and Neil Patrick Harris, and the film being based on the excellent Gillian Flynn novel, it looks like this could be one of the most promising projects coming our way in the near future.

Fortunately, we’ll get to see it in 2014, but unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the end of next year, as 20th Century Fox has now given the project an October 3rd release date.

That’s not the only film that the studio has scheduled today though. We now know that Paul McGuigan‘s Frankenstein will rumble in January 16th, 2015,  Book of Life opens October 17th, 2014, and Son of God will release February 28th, 2014.

Gone Girl is definitely the most exciting one of the bunch, for me at least. For those who don’t know, the book tells the story of a woman who disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary, with a lot of evidence pointing at her 34-year-old husband as the culprit. It’s a dark story, and seems like the sort that is perfect for Fincher to handle.

That being said, I’m also very excited for Frankenstein. Max Landis penned the script for that one, but what really has my hopes high is the fact that it’s led by Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy. Those two are both excellent actors who are always a pleasure to watch. Daniel Radcliffe as Igor is an interesting decision, but I can definitely see it paying off greatly. Plus, I’ve never opposed to having another quality monster movie in the works.
