Gotham City Sirens Star Margot Robbie Spotted Reading Harley Quinn Comic In The Wild

With Margot Robbie set to star in the upcoming Gotham City Sirens, it comes as no surprise that she has already begun her research by immersing herself in the source material. Despite Suicide Squad ultimately having proved to be divisive among fans and critics, many agree that her portrayal of Harley Quinn was one of the best parts of the film, if not the clear highlight. Perhaps it’s her attention to detail that added to the winning formula.

Thanks to a Reddit user, we’ve been offered insight into some of her inspiration. A recent photograph shows Robbie killing time in public by reading none other than Harley Quinn Vol. 3: Kiss Kiss Bang Stab, which happens to be my favorite collection to come from the stellar writing team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. This may seem like an obvious choice for required reading, but I’m quite thrilled that she’s chosen to sample from the best.

Allegedly, the page she was reading at the time was that of one originally included in the Valentine’s Day Special that was worth the purchase of the trade paperback alone. In short, the one-shot saw Harley emerge victorious at a charity bachelor auction, winning a date with Bruce Wayne. Much hilarity ensued, especially in the dream sequences, some of which saw the two as a married couple.

While it remains to be seen if anything included in Kiss Kiss Bang Stab will have any influence at all on Gotham City Sirens, it’s important to note that Robbie will serve as a producer and likely have a large amount creative control on the project. As such, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that some elements of the comic could eventually appear in the film.
