Groot Gives Star-Lord Attitude In New Avengers: Infinity War TV Spot

Another new TV spot for Avengers: Infinity War has surfaced today, this time giving us some new footage of Groot and Star-Lord.

Watching Avengers: Infinity War from the sidelines must be a pretty strange experience for James Gunn.

He is, after all, the writer-director behind Guardians of the Galaxy and its rip-roaring sequel, one who helped pave the way for Star-Lord and Co. – namely Gamora, Groot, Drax and Rocket Racoon – to be enshrined in not only the MCU, but popular culture in general.

Fast forward to 2018 and James Gunn has now handed over control of his space-faring A-holes to Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmaking duo behind Infinity War and the currently untitled Avengers 4. And while we’ve heard that the gang will act more as supporting players in the pic, taking a bit of a backseat to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, we’re sure there will still be plenty of great moments featuring them.

Case in point: this new TV spot that we have for you today. While made up mostly of footage we’ve already seen, there is some fresh stuff near the end, like Groot seemingly giving Star-Lord a bit of attitude at one point, which looks to be a pretty funny sequence that we can’t wait to see in full.

Speaking of Vin Diesel’s fan favorite character, we actually know quite a bit about his role in Infinity War. For one, we’ve been told that Teenage Groot is still learning how to most effectively use his tree-like body as a weapon, and we know that he finds an unexpected mentor in the movie. Given that we’ve also heard that Groot provides the handle for Thor’s shiny new Mjolnir replacement, Stormbreaker, the smart money is on the God of Thunder and Groot developing a close bond over the course of the film.

Whatever it is that Joe and Anthony Russo have planned for the little guy, along with the rest of the Guardians, we can’t wait to see everyone in action when the lights go down in theaters next month. With the marketing blitz for Avengers: Infinity War now fully underway (this weekend alone has seen three new TV spots and a clip), hype is at an all-time high and it’s fair to say that Marvel’s about to deliver one hell of a moviegoing experience in just a few short weeks.
