If you’re a Marvel fan, you can’t failed to have noticed the Twitter storm surrounding director James Gunn which got him fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the upcoming film expected to bring the trilogy of movies he’s helmed to a close. Since Disney removed him from the production, celebrities have poured onto social media in defense of the filmmaker and that continues today.

Initially, the Guardians cast were slow to respond, with only Dave Bautista letting loose on Twitter as he made clear that he stood alongside Gunn and lambasted the “cybernazis” that got his good friend fired. The rest of the principal players have now started to give their own, decidedly more measured responses, though. Last night, for instance, Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana appeared to show solidarity with Gunn.

Now, Karen Gillan – who plays Nebula – is the latest to break her social media silence. She initially posted a message saying “Love to every single member of my GOTG family.” Though she didn’t name-check Gunn, it’s clear that her reference to “every single member” of that group includes the director, which must mean that she at least sympathizes with his position.

Ten minutes later, Gillan added some clarity to the vague Tweet by posting another message. “Just to clarify, I’ll speak more on this later but just wanted to make sure that was out there,” the actress stated, before adding, “Love to you all.”

Gillan’s response to the controversy closely echoes that of her on-screen sister Saldana. Both stars are clearly taken aback by the whole thing and want to get their thoughts in order before they wade into the conversation. However, they both made it obvious in their declarations of love for the GotG crew that they still consider James Gunn to be a very close friend.

On a more positive note, some fans have called for Gillan to take over as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The actress recently made her writing/directing debut with The Party’s Just Beginning and she’s said how she’d love to next helm a Marvel blockbuster. Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, we first need to hear Gillan’s full reaction to James Gunn’s firing, which we’ll share with you the moment she posts it.
