Two New Guardians Of The Galaxy TV Spots Introduce The Team

By now, comic book movie fans have heard of Marvel's upcoming space epic, Guardians of the Galaxy, but general audiences may still be a bit fuzzy on the details. The film is a huge risk for studio, too, thanks to its cosmic roots and a bizarre mishmash of characters, which includes a green-skinned assassin, a talking raccoon and a walking tree.

By now, comic book movie fans have heard of Marvel’s upcoming space epic, Guardians of the Galaxy, but general audiences may still be a bit fuzzy on the details. The film is a huge risk for studio, too, thanks to its cosmic roots and a bizarre mishmash of characters, which includes a green-skinned assassin, a talking raccoon and a walking tree.

Needless to say, the marketing campaign for the film will need to reel audiences in and get them to give the film a chance. We’re now about a month and a half away from Guardians of the Galaxy hitting screens, and it’s already clear that Marvel’s marketing department is putting in extra hours to accomplish that goal. We’ve seen a few new posters, featuring brothers in arms Rocket and Groot, the deadly Gamora, and Star-Lord and Drax, and now, two new TV spots have hit the web.

The first TV spot is basically just a re-edit of the extended theatrical trailer, showing barely any new footage, if any at all. The second, however, is packed with new stuff, including a humorous interaction between Star-Lord and Nova Prime Rael (Glenn Close), Gamora and Drax in action, and some more lines from Rocket Racoon.

Both TV spots do a fine job of selling the film’s basic premise, and introducing us to the Guardians themselves. Check them out below, and let us know in the comments section if you’ll be seeing Guardians of the Galaxy when it hits theaters on August, 1st.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
