Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Dave Bautista Will Return To WWE For SmackDown 1000

Though Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Dave Bautista has been sounding the Independent Thought Alarm pretty often as of late and seemingly doesn’t care if he loses his gig at Marvel Studios, you’d think his alma mater, the WWE, would greet him with open arms whenever he has some free time, right? I mean, if that organization has been known for giving the royal treatment to even Z-list celebrities, then I see no reason why they should give the cold shoulder to one of their own who went on to star in bona fide blockbusters.

So, after some concern of SmackDown‘s 1000th episode being complete devoid of Batista (don’t forget, his ring name lacked the “u”), it comes as a relief to hear that he’ll indeed be invited back when the momentous event invades his hometown of Washington, D.C. Really, aside from the fact that he was arguably the face of “the blue show” while in his prime, Dave sitting out something taking place in his backyard just seems wrong.

Confirming this was WWE itself via its official Twitter account in a video that can be viewed below. In fact, Batista’s return will be done in style because – get this – he’ll be reuniting with his former Evolution teammates, those being Triple H, Ric Flair and Randy Orton.

Though Triple H and Flair had been known as being part of other iconic stables such as D-Generation X and the Four Horsemen, respectively, the Evolution chapter in their careers was not one to be forgotten. At that time, Batista and Orton had yet to become the main event players we eventually knew them to be, so it stands to reason they really learned the ropes (pun intended) from the elder members of the group.

In truth, it could be some time before we see the Guardians of the Galaxy headlining a movie of their own again, so why not sit back and enjoy Drax returning to his roots when SmackDown 1000 airs on Tuesday, October 16 on USA?
