‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ BTS promo has James Gunn getting misty-eyed over his MCU family

The time for Gunn's MCU farewell is fast approaching, and he's feeling it.

It’s hard to believe we’re this close, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now just a little over two weeks away from release – and with it, James Gunn will be waving farewell to the MCU, presumably for quite some time, if not forever.

The fact that this is truly Gunn’s Marvel swansong has been dawning on the director in recent weeks, posting many a sentimental tweet about the pocket of the MCU he has built over the last ten years. Today was another such occasion, as Gunn shared a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 featurette in which he and franchise stars reminisce about the trilogy they’ve devoted a big chunk of their lives to:

In the clip itself, Gunn reminisces about his anxieties about when he first delivered the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, before the freshly-minted co-head of DC Studios added that the best part of his Marvel gig was the people he worked with. The cast of the series had nothing but praise for the director, with Zoe Saldana doubling down on their commitment to Gunn’s vision, calling him “a great captain.”

Gunn and much of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast will be bidding farewell to the MCU (unless a fouth film ends up miraculously happening) when Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023. We do have a serious question we can ponder while we wait for its release, though; does Nebula have eyebrows?
