This article contains spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

An MCU fan took to the r/MarvelStudios subreddit to share how the revelations about Rocket’s early life in the new film make Udonta’s powerful and empathic speech in the sequel even more touching.

The most electrifying aspect of the scene was how deeply Udonta (Michael Rooker) was able to empathize and identify with Rocket (Brandley Cooper). The cosmic marauder had the insight to see past the little procyonid’s bravado. He broke the lonely spell that held Rocket captive for years in an audacious moment of vulnerable self-disclosure.

One Redditor rated the scene as one of the finest speeches in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Another fan beautifully captured Udonta’s powers of discernment in a single quote.

The masterful storytelling at the heart of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise offered some fans a lasting moment of emotional liberation and saw them revisiting past moments of the films with fresh eyes.

Still, another fan was in awe of Udonta and extolled his hero journey as the finest in the Marvel universe.

Yondu’s words cut through the cold armor that concealed Rocket’s severe emotional wounds, and in revealing the truth about the angry quadruped, he helped a lot of MCU fans feel seen, too.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is currently showing in theatres.
