Remember that Change.org petition calling on Disney and Marvel Studios to rehire James Gunn in time for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Well, it’s now crossed 400,000 signatures, and continues to gain momentum with each passing day.

Per Change.org, the petition from Chandler Edwards passed this frankly incredible milestone only two days ago, proving that there’s still a groundswell of support for Gunn as the director begins to adjust to post-MCU life.

Will this make much of a difference to the whole situation? Who knows. So far, the Mouse House is adamant that James Gunn’s days working within the Guardians franchise are behind him, leaving the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in need of a new shepherd. They will, however, continue to use the filmmaker’s Vol. 3 script.

Beyond Change.org, many of Gunn’s frequent collaborators – namely Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Zoe Saldana – have voiced their solidarity with him, and even called on Disney to reassess their decision so that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may continue with its original director behind the wheel. Alas, that’s no longer the case.

And while the majority of people appear to be in Gunn’s corner, others like former ABC star Roseanne Barr, aren’t convinced, and believe the director’s sudden dismissal is the right call considering the gross and insensitive nature of those resurfaced tweets.

But what say you? Do you believe James Gunn is worthy of another shot at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Or was Disney right to close the door after those incendiary tweets began circulating on the Internet once more?
