If you’re a huge fan of superhero animation like myself, then odds are you were floored a few weeks back when the second trailer for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse hit the web. And if that weren’t enough, we also learned Hailee Steinfeld is voicing the wildly popular Spider-Gwen on that very day!

Sure, while the inclusion of Spider-Gwen may not sound like that big of a deal to some of you, this alternate universe doppelganger for Gwen Stacy that was bitten by fate has since taken the comic book and cosplay communities by storm, effectively catching on faster than most newly introduced characters tend to. Having said, that I’m thrilled she’s bringing her stylish threads along with her on opening weekend.

Speaking of which, she leads the way in a trio of new high resolution stills taken directly from Into the Spider-Verse, as we’re further reminded of how it’s set to be a visual marvel (pun intended). Naturally, she’s brought a few friends with her, too.

Also on display is that of the movie’s lead, Miles Morales, who’ll be played by Shameik Moore. If you’re unfamiliar, this guy’s been on the comic scene for seven years now, yet his jump to the big screen seems long overdue. Not only that, but he has powers different from Peter Parker, so he should come as a breath of fresh air to audiences.

Still, Peter will be showing up in what appears to be a mentor-like role of sorts, and will be voiced by Jake Johnson. In his contribution to the gallery, he’s showing young Miles the ropes before the latter receives a cool costume of his own.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse opens in theaters on December 14th.
