Aquaman, Shazam! and, er, Iron Fist season 2 – three of the geek-friendly properties we expect to lay eyes on during San Diego Comic-Con next month.
Although according to io9, there’s another IP that’s now booked its place on the official guest list – Halloween. Yes, Universal and Blumhouse’s long-in-development horror sequel will seemingly enjoy a big showcase at next month’s event, as the studio is expected to clear its slate and double down on Halloween – presumably at the expense of Mortal Engines, Glass and How to Train Your Dragon 3.
There’s still a good chance that either one (or all three!) of those films will be ushered into the spotlight, but after generating a metric ton of buzz with its incredible first teaser trailer, it’s fair to say that Halloween has earned its place at the tip-top of Universal’s calling card. Because after 40 long years – sequels notwithstanding – we’re ready to return to Haddonfield and bear witness to Michael’s second coming.
io9’s report also heralds a new and updated synopsis for Halloween, in which you’ll find one or two clues about the story that David Gordon Green and Danny McBride have rustled up. And at least for now, the creative duo refuse to rule out the possibility of a sequel…
A British documentary crew comes to the States to visit Michael in prison for a retrospective of the maniac’s night of terror — but their project becomes way more interesting when Myers escapes custody, retrieves his signature mask and seeks revenge on Laurie, with others naturally being part of his impressive career body count along the way.
In the decades following the fateful Halloween night that forever altered the former babysitter’s life, Laurie has armed and prepped herself for Michael’s inevitable return — to the detriment of her family, including daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak).
Halloween returns home on October 19th, so you’d best best pack your adult diaper.
