CinemaCon Heralds Some Juicy New Intel For Blumhouse’s “Terrifying” Halloween

CinemaCon has officially rolled out the blood-red carpet for Michael Myers, and if the likes of Birth.Movies.Death and the Los Angeles Times are to be believed, David Gordon Green’s “terrifying” Halloween sequel enjoyed a big response at the convention.

Word is Blumhouse brought the first-look teaser for what is undoubtedly one of the biggest horror movies of 2018 – a bold claim, for sure, especially when you consider that Halloween shares the release calendar with Hereditary. But the fact that Green’s R-rated continuation is arriving a full 40 years after the John Carpenter classic means there’s an air of history and deep-seated horror legacy swirling around Michael Myers’ return.

And at least based on the following trailer reactions, it’s looking increasingly likely that Blumhouse and David Gordon Green are about to deliver the goods in the form of a “fucking awesome” trailer that’s designed to stir excitement for Laurie Strode’s final confrontation with The Shape. Buckle up, folks; things are about to get hairy. And don’t worry, there are no spoilers to be found after the jump.

Still with us? Embedded below you’ll find a sampling of those trailer reactions, hot off the presses. Also of note, it seems the entire sibling plotline involving Michael and Laurie has been ditched entirely in favor of a blank slate, while we know from previous reports that David Gordon Green and co-writer Danny McBride have decided to ignore all other Halloween sequels in favor of Carpenter’s timeless masterpiece.

The takeaway? This is a direct continuation of the 1978 classic. And a bloody terrifying one at that:

Michael Myers, otherwise known as The Shape, is seemingly “terrifying” and “not messing around,” so we simply can’t wait until Halloween reaches theaters on October 19th.
