Halloween Horror: Your Guide To Navigating Netflix Watch Instantly This October

Being a devout horror movie addict, October comes with an inherent jubilation that just can't be replicated by other holiday seasons. Thanksgiving brings families together, Easter rests its laurels on religious reflection, and Christmas is about getting some badass gifts (right?), but there's nothing better than an October horror movie marathon.

I won’t hide that I love a little comedy mixed in with my horror. There’s something about the way gleeful fun can blend with grotesque genre work to create monster laughs, allowing for a multilayered watch that achieves the ultimate highs of entertainment. Lucky for you, the Netflix Watch Instantly database has plenty of these jovial gems to choose from, guaranteed to deliver righteous comedy and buckets full of gore unlike anything you’ve seen. All the death and destruction is in good fun, I promise!

While I’ve highlighted a handful of killer watches, Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil deserves a shining spotlight. Featuring Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk as two bumbling yokels looking for some backwoods rest and relaxation, a group of dumb kids mistake them for horror movie slashers and end up killing themselves accidentally in increasingly vile ways. It’s one of the funniest horror comedies I’ve seen in ages, accentuated by the lovable chemistry Labine and Tudyk display while scraping guts out of their woodchipper.

You really can’t go wrong with any of these gruesome riots though, from Stitches the murderous clown to Troma’s fast-food-restuarant-built-on-an-Indian-burial-ground oddity, Poultrygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead. Or you can join Josh Hutcherson as he finds himself simultaneously fighting the 90s and a slasher villain in Detention, a hilarious period piece younger that audiences can actually re-live. Either way, there are plenty of yucks to go around, and some pretty seriously horror as well.
