The Hangover Part II Theatrical Trailer

As promised, this week we finally got the first full theatrical trailer for The Hangover Part II. We recently saw a teaser but it really didn't show much at all. Now we have a much better look at the film with the two and a half minute preview. As big a fan as I was of the first film, this one may not share the same fate. Up until now I was really looking forward to it but after having seen the trailer, I'm a bit skeptical. There's a few reasons for my skepticism. One reason is that Justin Bartha's character Doug, looks like he'll have the same type of role as in the first film. And that means he'll be separated from Stu, Phil and Alan. I liked Doug's character in the first film and we were promised to see more of him in the sequel. It doesn't look like we will though.

Up until now I was really looking forward to it but after having seen the trailer, I’m a bit skeptical. There’s a few reasons for my skepticism. One reason is that Justin Bartha’s character Doug, looks like he’ll have the same type of role as in the first film. And that means he’ll be separated from Stu, Phil and Alan. I liked Doug’s character in the first film and we were promised to see more of him in the sequel. It doesn’t look like we will though.

Another reason for my skepticism stems from the fact that it looks identical to the first film, giving it that ‘been there, done that’ feeling. I’m sure it will still be funny, simply due to the strength of the chemistry between the three leads, but still, I was hoping for something new in the way of plot.

One good thing about the trailer was the music, which leads me to believe that Phillips is going to have a great soundtrack for the film. The first film had some great music and Phillips’ last film, Due Date, also had some solid tunes. Hopefully the film will deliver in that regard.

Obviously I’m still going to see it but for now, my hopes have been lowered a bit. That being said, this is just a trailer so it’s probably safe to assume that a lot of the good stuff wasn’t revealed. There may still be some surprises in store for us, I wouldn’t doubt it. With the May 26th release date drawing closer, I guess we’ll find out soon. Check out the plot summary and trailer below.

In The Hangover Part II, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined.
