Hawkeye Rumored To Appear In Black Widow Movie

The original six might've been disassembled in Avengers: Endgame, but Natasha Romanoff is set to return in next year's Black Widow solo movie. Scarlett Johansson's super-spy isn't expected to be resurrected after her death on Vormir though, as the film will travel back to the 1990s and explain how the former Russian assassin ended up turning over a new leaf and defecting to S.H.I.E.L.D.

A new rumor, though, suggests that at least one of her future teammates will appear in the pic, and you can probably guess who it is. A user named TheMarvelScoopMaster has surfaced on Reddit over the past few days and has shared lots of supposedly leaked info from behind the scenes at Marvel Studios. His latest intel reveals that Jeremy Renner may drop by to reprise his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye. “I’ve heard Hawkeye may show up,” he explained, “but don’t think the others [the Avengers] will.”

Though unconfirmed, this fits with what we’ve previously put together about the movie. Reports have told us that Black Widow is filming in Hungary, leaving fans to theorize that we’ll finally get to find out what happened in Budapest. As we know from all those references to the enigmatic event in the likes of The Avengers and Endgame, the incident at Budapest was an important moment for both Nat and Clint. Perhaps it’ll be revealed as how they first met in the prequel?

We’ve also heard talk before of Renner’s Marvel career extending past the recent fourth Avengers flick, as it’s said that the actor’s going to finally get his own vehicle, with a Hawkeye TV series in the works at Disney Plus that’ll explore Clint training up his successor as Hawkeye, Kate Bishop. Neither this or his Black Widow appearance have been officially confirmed as yet, of course, but it certainly sounds like the MCU’s not done with Barton.
