The unofficial Hellraiser: Judgment post-mortem continues this week, with writer-director Gary J. Tunnicliffe dishing out more juicy details via various interviews he’s been giving to promote the film’s recent release.

From scenes that were so shocking they had to be cut to why he thinks the franchise isn’t as strong as it once was, Tunnicliffe has offered up some great insight and today, he’s sharing his idea for a potential Judgment sequel. Of course, there’s nothing to say one will happen, and given the somewhat frosty reception the film received, it doesn’t look too likely right now, but the writer-director has some thoughts for where it could go regardless.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, here’s what he put forth:

“I have thought about it… what I think would be great fun,” Tunnicliffe told the site. “Maybe a new Cenobite ruler comes in, or takes over, and a new head priest comes in, and it’s not working out and clearly this person, this Cenobite’s not doing a great job.

Continuing on, Tunnicliffe said:

And underhandedly, the Auditor is leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for the guy who is Pinhead to find his way back, and he gets pulled in. And then it’s like, he turns up, and it’s like a showdown between the newly born Pinhead and this guy who’s taken over his mantle. We do a bit of a standoff, and it’s like battle of the Hell priests.”

What’s being proposed here could definitely work, but as we mentioned above, we’re not so sure that ol’ Pinhead will get another cinematic outing. Fans didn’t take too well to Judgment, with Matt Donato, our resident horror fiend, finding the gruesome pic to be lacking in bite, writing that it’s a “stuffy police procedural masquerading as a torturous Pinhead franchise entry.” That’s disappointing, too, as horror enthusiasts had been waiting for the Cenobites to return for an awful long time.

Regardless, we’ll hold out hope that this won’t be the last we’ve seen of the series and if you’ve yet to dig in, know that Hellraiser: Judgment is now available across Blu-ray and DVD (buy it on Amazon here). If it’s more coverage you’re after, meanwhile, then look no further than our in-depth review. Also, you may want to hang around after the credits to catch a bonus scene featuring The Auditor.
