He’s legally forbidden from promoting the movie, so ‘Blue Beetle’ star makes do with thanking the cast and crew instead

Let's hope people turn up on opening day for the DCU's sake.

With actors and writers now on strike at the same time for the first time in 60 years, Hollywood has already ground to a standstill, which doesn’t bode well for Blue Beetle‘s chances of finding success at the box office.

The marketing campaign had only just shaken off the cobwebs after remaining radio silent for three months, but now the cast, crew, and creative team are legally forbidden from attending premieres or actively promoting the comic book adaptation in accordance with the rules.

As a result, star Xolo Maridueña has found a workaround after he took to Instagram and shared a gushing statement thanking everyone who worked on Blue Beetle for what they brought to the table, reminding everyone that his DCU debut is weeks away from theaters while still coloring within the lines.

“Having a hard time finding any words that can share how appreciative and honored I am to have completed this journey with my Blue Beetle family. To my beautiful cast mates, thank you so much for being the reason I am here, I stand on your shoulders and this movie is incomplete without you. To the wonderful crew that welcomed me to this new world, thank you for your hospitality and kindness, you all are the only people for the jobs. And finally to Angel, thank you for being the best papa out there, to have collaborated on this with you is an experience I will hold forever in my heart and I can’t wait to fucking do it again. You are my rock. To the blue beetle battalion I love y’all. See y’all in the theater.”

After Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash tanked horribly, though, it remains to be seen who’ll be turning up at their local multiplex on opening weekend to see Blue Beetle for themselves, but at least we know James Gunn will be bringing Maridueña back at some point in the future after Jaime Reyes was confirmed as a DCU character.
