The “feud” stretches all the way back to the marketing push for the first Deadpool film, where one of the most frequent questions from fans and pundits alike, was whether or not the Merc with a Mouth would ever share the screen with Wolverine.

Given that Jackman was in the midst of filming Logan at the time, and it was well documented that it would be the actor’s final outing in the role, it was clear that the dream of seeing him and Reynolds battling it out on the screen once more (as they technically already appeared together and fought in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the less said about that the better) wouldn’t come to fruition.

But that hasn’t stopped anyone from riding the gravy train of speculation. Jackman has been the focus of numerous gags within the Deadpool films and he’s given back as good as he’s gotten. In fact, he’s now fired the most recent shot in the war.

The actor took to social media recently to post a picture of an Aviation Gin, Reynolds’ personal brand, delivery truck getting towed, along with the caption: “Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.” Of course, Reynolds was ready with a response, stating: “What? I have a very elaborate designated driver.”

This rivalry has been nothing if not humorous, and it’s clear that both men have a general admiration for one another. They seem quite happy to continue to fan the flames of the hope too that, one day, somehow, Deadpool and Wolverine will show up together on the big screen.

Admittedly, the chances of that hope ever coming to fruition are quite slim, but hey, at least their bromance lives on. That’s something, right?
