After being rumored earlier this week, it’s been confirmed tonight that Marvel Studios is about to close a deal with Mark Ruffalo for the actor to reprise his role as The Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok. Exact details on how he’ll factor in are still unclear, but it’s being reported that the character will have a “prominent role” in the Taika Waititi-directed film.
Given that Ragnarok is still two years away, we really don’t know very much about it, aside from the fact that it’s said to be one of the studio’s darkest efforts yet. It’s also been described as a “cosmic road trip movie,” which could be why Marvel has brought in The Hulk, to provide a buddy of sorts for Thor in what sounds like a story that will have the two Avengers teaming up to face some greater threat.
This all does make a fair bit of sense, too, as placing The Hulk in space lines him up quite well for that long-rumored Planet Hulk film. Whether that ends up happening remains to be seen, of course, but it certainly looks like that’s the direction Marvel is heading in here.
Thor Ragnarok will storm into theatres on November 3rd, 2017. Tell us, what do you think The Hulk will be up to when he makes his long-awaited return? Sound off below and let us know.
