To start with, a ton of films drop on the first day of the month. Horror fans, watch out for vampire movie 30 Days of Night, alien invasion flick Attack the Block, 90s favorite I Know What You Did Last Summer and Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Looking for something lighter? No problem, as there are also comedies like Fred Claus and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Those wanting some action should check out Mad Max, King Arthur or Watchmen.

A few more recent films arrive throughout the rest of the month, such as Steven Soderbergh’s 2018 psychological horror Unsane, starring Claire Foy, which is added on August 18th. Then, on the 16th, 2020 fantasy adventure Love and Monsters, featuring Dylan O’Brien, debuts. The following day brings Chaos Walking, the 2020 sci-fi YA movie led by Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.

Moving on to TV content, Taika Waititi’s Reservation Dogs – a new comedy about a group of teens living on a Oklahoma reservation – premieres on the 9th. The 18th then delivers Nine Perfect Strangers, in which the titular strangers gather at a wellness resort where it turns out their hostess (Kidman) has ulterior motives for bringing them there. Finally, comedy series Only Murders in the Building follows Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin as three true crime lovers who end up in a real murder mystery.
