Maybe Linkin Park was busy when he called, or perhaps he just wanted some fresh blood? Either way, Michael Bay has hired Imagine Dragons to write some music for his next venture into the world of Bayhem, Transformers: Age of Extinction. The band wrote an exclusive track titled Battle Cry, which is teased in the video below along with some new footage, and will also work with composer Steve Jablonsky on a few other pieces of the film’s music.

Despite the fact that a lot of critics and bloggers can’t stand Imagine Dragons, and for good reason, they do have a Grammy under their belt. Plus, within the general public, they’re actually quite popular, so it’s easy to see why Paramount would want them to compose some music for the upcoming Transformers film. In fact, it’s almost a perfect fit.

Both Transformers and Imagine Dragons are extremely commercial properties, sacrificing artistic integrity to serve the masses and appeal to the widest audience possible. Furthermore, despite the negative reviews that both the Transformers films and Imagine Dragons continue to earn, they’ll still make tons and tons of money. So really, this is like a match made in heaven.

In other Transformers news, Paramount has released three new photos (featuring Bumblebee and Optimus Prime) along with a new poster that’s just as epic and overly dramatic as you’d expect. The titular robots take center stage in all four images as we get a good look at some of the main characters in action.

Transformers: Age of Extinction rolls into theatres on June 27th. Check out the new images and the Imagine Dragons tease below, and let us know if you’re ready for more Bayhem.
