Insanity ensues after a major horror character is finally spotted in the official ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ trailer

Let the (scary) games begin.

Horror fans and thrill-seeking gamers, rejoice! Earlier this morning, production powerhouse Blumhouse finally released the official trailer for the hotly-anticipated horror extravaganza Five Nights At Freddy’s — a supernatural-esque film adaptation based on the ever-popular video game series. And while the pulse-pounding trailer is enough of a wild ride all on its own, devoted FNAF fanatics are over the moon after finally catching a glimpse of a particular fan-favorite character.

After the aforementioned trailer dropped this morning, horror die-hards have been congregating on Twitter after an exclusive glimpse was shown of Springtrap — a heavily favored FNAF character who is often regarded as the undisputed favorite for many fans. As to be expected, the shot of Springtrap opened the door to a variety of possibilities in the Blumhouse vehicle — and a small glimpse of Golden Freddy further electrified fans’ excitement.

For those who aren’t already aware, Springtrap is an early model of the SpringBonnie suit — which appears in several of the FNAF games. While other characters in the game possess the ability to “stun” the killer and impair their vision and utilize jumpscares, Springtrap holds the ability to “kill” a player and present a Game Over scenario — especially in the third game.

Due to his captivating appearance and unique abilities, it hardly comes as a huge surprise that the collective FNAF fanbase is ecstatic to see his arrival — indicating that the movie will likely indulge further in the narrative’s backstory. For those interested, Five Nights at Freddy’s is set to haunt theaters starting Oct. 27.
