The Coen brothers, who brought us some great films like No Country For Old Men in 2007 and True Grit in 2010, have returned to filmmaking with the anticipated, artistic drama Inside Llewyn Davis, in which Oscar Isaac plays the lead role.

Loosely based on the memoir titled The Mayor of MacDougal Street, Inside Llewyn Davis follows the story of a struggling, folk musician trying to achieve a successful career in the ’60s music scene in New York City. The movie features quite the cast, with Carey Mulligan, who may or may not be playing the protagonist’s love interest, Garrett Hedlund, who appears to be traveling on the road again, Justin Timberlake, Adam Driver, John Goodman and F. Murray Abraham.

The one thing we love about Joel and Ethan Coen is that their movies have a unique and elegant style, and Inside Llewyn Davis seems to be no exception. In fact, the movie looks like it might be slightly different from Coens’ previous films.

From the trailer, Inside Llewyn Davis appears to be visually entertaining, with an alluring blend of colors that emphasizes the folk scene and provides it with an authentic look. Equally, the dialogue is solid and hilarious, especially with Mulligan outshining in the sneak peek, as her character gives a charming lecture on the topic of safe sex to Davis.

“I should have had you wearing double condoms. Or we shouldn’t have done it in the first place. But if you ever do it again, which is a favor to women everywhere, you should not. But if you do, you should be wearing condom on condom and then wrap it in electrical tape.”

The dialogue also introduces us to some of the movie’s eccentric characters, like the one portrayed by John Goodman. Additionally, Isaac’s character seems to have a quality that we want to root for, especially considering how everyone else treats him in the trailer.

With all this in mind, we suspect the Coen Brothers may just receive another Oscar nod for the movie.

While we were expecting a 2012 release, Inside Llewyn Davis will probably be premiering at Cannes this year. Currently, the movie has no official distributor, but we’re hoping for a definite 2013 release date soon.

In the meantime, you can view the trailer below and let us know what you think. Are you stoked for the movie?
