Is there a more contentious horror film than Jeepers Creepers 3?
Victor Salva’s long-in-development threequel was first hatched in 2006, and has been dogged by production woes and setbacks ever since. And that’s before you factor Salva’s dubious past into the equation. In short: the filmmaker was accused of sexual misconduct with a minor almost two decades ago, and served 15 months in state prison. His victim, Nathan Forrest Winters, has since come out to say that it’s really up to the viewer whether they choose to support Jeepers Creepers 3. You can read his full, candid statement here.
As for the film itself, it’s now on the verge of its limited theatrical release, and an international trailer has clawed its way online to prove it. Embedded above, today brings forth an extended peek at The Creeper, which is about to begin its bloodthirsty harvest. Not unlike the Pennywise of Stephen King’s It, this is an abomination that only feasts on its prey every 20-odd years, and as you’ll be able to garner from today’s newly-released teaser, The Creeper is hungry.
Beyond flesh-eating monsters, the full human ensemble for Jeepers Creepers 3 includes Gabrielle Haugh (Addison Brandon), Stan Shaw (Sheriff Dan Tashtego), Joyce Giraud as (Deputy Dana Lang), Jordan Salloum (Kenny Brandon), Tamsin Sparks (Terra Bowers), Ryan Moore (Kirk Mathers), Brandon Smith (Sergeant Davis Tubbs), Gina Philips (Trish Jenner) and Christine Ko as Kiya Wong.
Once scheduled for a back-to-back screening at LA’s TCL theater before a vocal minority said otherwise, Jeepers Creepers 3 is now penciled in for a one-night-only showcase at Regal Cinemas on September 26th. However, whether fans choose to support the unnerving horror flick given Salva’s criminal record is another question entirely.
