The latest international trailer for Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man is here and while it does feature some new footage, it’s mostly the same as the previously released full-length trailer. I’m actually a fan of the latest trailer because I like how different it looks compared to Sam Raimi‘s original film in terms of tone and focus.
It looks more focused on Peter’s relationship with his parents and discovering what really happened to them. It also looks like it’s going to focus more on his struggle with the police and The Lizard (played by Rhys Ifans), opposed to his inner demons and his girlfriend Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).
The last Spider-Man films spent too much time sulking on Parker’s failed relationship with Mary Jane Watson, who isn’t even in this adaptation. I like that Marc Webb is taking chances really trying to establish another story of Spider-Man. I was worried that this film would play too similar to the previous films, but judging by the trailers alone it’s looking like its own film.
The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans. The film will open in theaters on July 3rd, 2012.
