The Internet Reacts To The News Of Deadpool 2’s PG-13 Cut

The planned PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2 seems like an odd venture to say the least. As a character who’s made his name on bloody spectacles and foul-mouthed wisecracking, the idea of a child-friendly Wade Wilson flick seems downright oxymoronic. And seeing how the PG-13 rating of the upcoming Venom movie has proven enough to dampen the enthusiasm of some fans, it’s hard to see how there’s much to be gained from this idea.

But for better or worse, a softer take on the Merc with a Mouth is coming to cinemas later this year, leaving it to the fans to work out what exactly to make of it. Naturally, plenty of Twitter users weren’t too pleased by the idea, and weren’t shy about expressing their disapproval either.

Others, meanwhile, think that this PG-13 cut could give us a taste of what to expect when the Deadpool property is acquired by Disney.

Naturally, the Zack Snyder fans were also quick to remind us that they’re still waiting for their preferred cut of Justice League.

Nonetheless, some fans seemed open to the idea. In particular, recent reports suggest that the story will be bookended by scenes of Fred Savage reprising his role from The Princess Bride, and admittedly, this particular idea seems just goofy enough to work.

While this PG-13 cut could give some younger fans the opportunity to see Wade on the big screen, you can bet that most kids will find a way of accessing the R-rated version now that it’s available on home video release, raising the question of who exactly this planned cut is for.

In any case, if a PG-13 Deadpool 2 sounds like your kind of thing, then you can catch it in theaters from December 21st, 2018.
