We Got This Covered: You mentioned you’ve done three psychological thrillers before this, was that on purpose? Do you enjoy that genre?

Elizabeth Olsen: Not really, those were just the first few jobs I got so that’s just how it happened. I wasn’t picking jobs when I first started, I was asking for jobs. (laughs) This was actually the first movie I chose to do. It was a nice change though, doing something more light and cheerful. I think you have to mix it up sometimes for your sanity.

We Got This Covered: After Martha Marcy May Marlene came out your career exploded. What was that like for you as a young actress, dealing with that sudden thrust into stardom?

Elizabeth Olsen: I think just because of growing up in LA and being around lots of people in the industry, I was really excited by it. I was happy and thankful too. I didn’t feel like I had a huge life change though, just a change in career and films that I get to be considered for.

I didn’t change much of anything else. It was exciting and great but I did feel a bit overwhelmed. You just have to have a real world attitude though and realize that there are lots of people who come and go and that things may not always be this way.

We Got This Covered: What can you tell us about the upcoming Oldboy remake that you’re starring in?

Elizabeth Olsen: We’ll be filming in New Orleans in October. I feel like that with movies you really love, it’s hard to do a remake of them. But this is just a whole new adventure and I think it’s really going to be great. I loved the original though and I was fighting for this part for a while so I’m very excited to get going on it. It’s such an interesting story and a great script, I’m just thrilled.

We Got This Covered: Can you tell us about any upcoming projects?

Elizabeth Olsen: Well I just finished Kill Your Darlings and that should start doing the festivals in 2013. I also did a film called Therese which is a period piece that focuses on a love affair, it should come out in mid-2013. There’s also a film called Very Good Girls but I’m not sure when it’s coming out.

That concludes our interview but we’d like to thank Elizabeth for talking with us. Be sure to check out Liberal Arts, now in theatres.
