With just a few months to its release date, Iron Man 3 has been slowly giving us small glimpses of what to expect when the movie hits theaters on May 3rd, 2013. Two weeks ago we got to see Iron Man plunge into earth with an armor that seemed to be failing, as bits of it practically disintegrated on his dive down, and only a couple of days ago Don Cheadle took the spotlight as Iron Patriot.

Today gives us yet another new look into the world of Iron Man 3, as we’re presented with a poster of a tanned Guy Pearce dressed in a suit and sporting a wicked gaze.

In this installment, Pearce plays Aldrich Killian, the scientist who creates the Extremis nanotech virus with Maya Hansen, who is portrayed by Rebecca Hall in the film.  In the comic book series, the Extremis issue is an important story arc to Iron Man because it helps the main character examine and redefine himself, especially with relation to his suit, so it’s understandable why Shane Black is incorporating it into the next film. Check out the storyline of the upcoming movie below.

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Seeing this new poster, I have to say that I’m excited to see Guy Pearce in his new role. The English actor is very talented and he’s given some strong performances in movies like Memento and L.A. Confidential. He has also appeared in The Hurt Locker, The King’s Speech, Lawless and a couple of other movies in which he also did a bang-up job. Even if his part may be fairly short – although since he gets his own poster I’m wondering if it really is – I think he’s a great addition to the movie. It will be intriguing to watch how his character interacts with Iron Man.
