Andy Muschietti All But Confirms His Return For It: Chapter Two

If Andy Muschietti's latest Instagram post is anything to go by, the director has already booked his place for It: Chapter Two.

It seems Andy Muschietti is bound for Derry once more.

Taking to Instagram (h/t Cinema Blend), the It director shared a candid, behind-the-scenes photo of the Losers Club enjoying a much-needed breather between takes – Stanley is covered in blood, Georgie is playing dead, and Eddie is smeared with dirt…you know, the usual.

Muschietti is also pictured alongside his remarkably talented youngsters, while the post itself came bearing the caption: “Wake up, losers. Derry is calling.” Or should that be Pennywise is calling?

Either way, it’s looking increasingly likely that Andy Muschietti (and presumably Barbara Muschietti) is locked in for It: Chapter Two, the New Line horror sequel that’s gearing up for a production start this summer. See for yourself:

Warner Bros. is yet to announce Muschietti’s involvement – or lack thereof – though last we reported the director and his producing partner/sibling, Barbara Muschietti, had entered negotiations to direct and produce It: Chapter Two, respectively.

The deal would reportedly see a bumper contract for the Muschiettis – fitting, really, given that It‘s box office tally has, ahem, ballooned to $700 million since September – while those aforementioned members of the Losers Club are also expected to receive significant pay rises before filming on Chapter Two begins.

Story-wise, those of you familiar with Stephen King’s horror opus will know that It: Chapter Two plans to whisk viewers back to the future – 2015, to be specific, by which point Eddie, Richie, Bill and Beverly Marsh will be fully-grown adults. The latter role has purportedly been earmarked for Jessica Chastain, though it’s still unclear if the Oscar-winning star has finalized her deal to play Adult Bev.

It: Chapter Two will be summoned into theaters on September 6th, 2019.
