With Jessica Chastain all set to play the adult version of Beverly Marsh, Consequence of Sound is reporting that James Ransone, star of Sinister, The Wire and Generation Kill, has been cast as Adult Eddie in It: Chapter Two. And not a moment too soon.
Word is New Line and Warner Bros. Pictures plan to get the cameras rolling this summer ahead of the sequel’s release in 2019, and as James McAvoy (X-Men, Split), and Trainwreck star Bill Hader continue their negotiations for Bill Denbrough and Richie Tozier, respectively, it looks certain that Ranson has clinched the part of Derry’s biggest hypochondriac.
As a matter of fact, the actor Tweeted out a message to acknowledge his casting, noting that he’s officially got “very big small shoes” to fill come 2019. So, all in all, it seems It: Chapter Two is coming along nicely, what with Chastain, Hader, McAvoy and now Ransone all on the verge of sealing their respective deals. Now comes the small task of ousting Pennywise once and for all…
And make no mistake, the upcoming horror sequel will ramp up the tension quite considerably, according to director Andy Muschietti, who returns at the helm alongside producing partner Barbara Muschietti.
They’re gonna find a lot of things that resemble the first one, the humor, the emotion, the horror. People are very invested emotionally in the characters of the story. At the end of the first one, there’s a promise of something else…It’s gonna be scarier. It’s gonna be a more intense experience. So, bring your adult diapers to the theater.
Said to be scarier and more intense than its predecessor (eek!), It: Chapter Two is penciled in for release on September 6th, 2019. And we all know that Andy Muschietti’s original box office monster performed remarkably well in that late summer corridor ($700M), so the bean counters over at New Line and Warner Bros. will be crossing their fingers in the hope that lightning strikes twice.
