It was only a matter of time until a solitary horror scene that terrorized a generation became a meme

Everything becomes a meme in the end.

From the destruction of a car-hauler truck in Final Destination 2 to Regan’s head spinning in The Exorcist, the massive horror genre is chock-full of singular scenes which have terrorized generations for decades. In the modern world, it’s hard to shake our minds of the solitary scene in Ari Aster’s Hereditary — which is undoubtedly the cause for all of our nightmares. But of course, it only took a few years for the mind-numbing moment to become a meme.

Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned meme pertains to the unforgettable moment where Charlie viciously collides with a telephone pole while sticking her head out of her brother Peter’s car window to get some air after suffering from an allergic reaction. In typical fashion of the internet, it was only a matter of time before the moment became a complete meme over on Twitter. You can check out the post for yourself down below:

Excluding all the fun and games, there’s absolutely no denying that the unsettling scene from Ari Aster’s feature directorial debut has been burned in our brains ever since Hereditary released in theaters back in 2018. Of course, the scene becomes all the more disturbing when viewers soon realize that a demon-worshipping cult is pulling the strings behind the scenes — but that’s certainly to be expected when it comes to horror.

Then again, when it comes to being too frightened over a scary movie, perhaps the best course of action is to laugh to keep from crying. But for those who continue to brave it out and sit through the jarring scene every Hereditary rewatch, a gold medal should definitely be handed out.
