One of the more positive aspects about The Flash was the long-awaited involvement of Batman legend Michael Keaton. And after Keaton’s appearance in Batgirl was seemingly wiped once Warner Bros. snatched the movie from releasing, DC fans were left wondering not only what could have been, but what exactly went wrong with Batgirl in the first place. Ever since, the common belief is that the unreleased film must have been awful, but a different point of view just might change all of that.
Over on Twitter, movie insider @ViewerAnon refused to keep quiet about the situation any longer, insisting that Batgirl “was solid” after witnessing the movie in a special screening last year. And just when it seemed all the Batgirl supporters had exited stage left, @ViewerAnon explained that the movie actually would have set up the base for its own sequel to follow. Of course, with how the overall internet is designed, sometimes it’s hard to completely trust just any source making claims about a particular movie. Then again, a separate source insisted last year that the movie is “fun,” so perhaps the DC project is deserving of more praise than it actually received.
But seeing as Warner Bros. officially wrote off production costs for the movie in regards to a tax break, it’s apparent that Batgirl likely won’t ever see the light of day, even despite the WGA strike currently ongoing. It’s too bad, really, given the plethora of defenders that would have swarmed to the theaters in support.
