J.K. Simmons Reprises Spider-Man Role For Avengers: Endgame Parody

Peter Parker suffered a sad fate in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, but if being turned into a pile of dust wasn’t bad enough already, the editor of the Daily Bugle is now back to rub it in with a new Avengers: Endgame parody.

In a video for Lights, Camera, Pod, J.K. Simmons reprises his fondly remembered role as J. Jonah Jameson from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films. In the below animation, Jameson calls on Peter Parker to take pictures of “that chump Spider-Man’s ashes,” before firing the photographer after being told that he died in the snap. It may not be canon, but until the MCU finds its own J. Jonah Jameson, feel free to assume that the Simmons version is out there somewhere, slandering Tom Holland’s wall-crawler.

Though Peter is nothing more than a pile of dirt right now, the character is set to make a comeback this July with Spider-Man: Far From Home. And since producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal have both gone on record saying that the film will take place after Endgame, it feels safe to assume that Spider-Man will be back in one piece by the end of the Infinity War sequel.

In fact, with Black Panther, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy also confirmed to have sequels on the way – not to mention all the heroes who reportedly have Disney Plus shows lined up – it’s pretty much beyond debate by now that Avengers: Endgame will find a way to reverse the snap. The big question that remains is just how Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are going to pull this off, and we can expect our answer when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
